Custom sculpt map sample area?

A quick thought an over ride to to define the Min Corner and Max Corner at which the sculpt will be created with in.

The reason behind this would be to allow you to basically change the center of the sculpt. so the person for example would define <-100,-100,-100> and <100,100,100> and they would build everything within <0,-100,-100> by <100,100,100> this would then put the center to the very side of the build. Of course would have to check if the persons build if it goes out side the defined boundry and give a warning.

Right now I use photo shop and use sevral methods of doing this but is very time consumming.

Gearsawe,

Yep, we need a way to change the center, I know. I'm releasing the first version of Prim Composer this week. That's where all my effort has gone recently and it's why I haven't yet tackled this issue.

After I release Prim Composer, I need to do some video tutorials and spend some time using Prim Composer to prioritize a list of new features for it. But two things that I know are on that list are manipulating the center point of sculpties and texturing.

Probably, what I'll do is to work the center point thing into a bug release within the next month. But the way that I want to implement it is to simply allow the user to move the center point using the standard 3ds max tools. I don't expect that it will be difficult to do, I just haven't gotten to it yet. But it will reach the top of my list in the near future.

That would be awesome to be able to juse move the pivot point. Guess it would be a checkbox “Use pivot point as center” but here is the other reasoning behind choosing the area for the sculpts. you have a few planer sculpts where you want the edges to line up to one another. So you use the same sculpt sample area to for all sculpts. In world you would make them all the same size and same position. Then everything should magically line up.

Does the make sense?

If anything I was going to jsut Hard code the values int for minDimensions and maxDimensions when I really needed to.

It makes sense, but I'd like to avoid it. Moving the pivot is my first choice.

But I'll reserve final judgement until I can take a closer look at it. I really appreciate the feedback. It is extremely helpful to know what people are trying to do with it.
